This might be old news to some, but to me this is a welcome sign that not all is lost in the world of sports cars due to corporate downsizing and economical cutbacks. Porsche will be offering the Turbo S in the 997 guise. The most recent debut of the Turbo was a step in the right direction from the crew at Stuttgart. With the release of the Turbo S in May to U.S. dealers, many loyalists of the Porsche badge can acknowledge the Porsche has decided to kick it up a notch.
I might even go so far as to thank Nissan for waking up of sport car industry mindset and rattling the cage.
Yes, the crew at Nissan did an excellent job of stirring up the pot with the latest GT-R. We are all aware of the Porsche vs. GT-R debate that rages on in forums across the world. Our website even goes so far as to acknowledge this debate openly with posing both cars together on our homepage.
So what does this new bad boy have to offer? Porsche took the 3.8L engine and decided to add another 30 hp to the Turbo S model. The end result is 530 hp at the crank. The torque will sit at 516 ft-lbs, which is the same as those who purchase the Turbo model with Sport Chrono package.
Some of the other bits and pieces that come along with the Turbo S badge are as follows:
- Equipped with carbon ceramic brakes
- Dynamic engine mounts
- A torque-vectoring rear differential
- Porsche’s seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (“PDK”).
- “RS Spyder” aluminum wheels
- Dynamic cornering lights
- Two-tone leather seating and a six-disc CD/DVD changer as standard equipment.
Did Porsche wake up and smell the coffee? We shall see, but what I find important is that they are producing and improving upon their craft and have not let the “doom and gloom” of the auto world stop them.

You should really think about expanding this blog into a serious voice in this niche. You clearly have a solid knowledge of the areas all of us are looking for on this website anyways and you could potentially even earn a dollar or two from some ads. I would explore following recent headlines and raising the number of articles you put up and I bet you’d start earning some nice traffic in the near future. Just a brainstorm, good luck in whatever you do!
Thanks for your comments! We’ll keep at it! Suggestions like these are welcome, feel free to share your opinions about “headlines” as well. regards
